Berlin Marathon 2024 Winner Running Shoes

Introduction

The 50th BMW Berlin Marathon was concluded on September 29, 2024. Although some of our favorite runners, such as Eliud Kipchoge, Kenenisa Bekele, and Tigst Assefa, did not participate, we still saw some amazing performances from the winners. The 24-year-old Ethiopian male runner Milkesa Mengesha and the 26-year-old Ethiopian female runner Tigist Ketema were crowned the champions of men’s and women’s marathons, respectively, with a time of 2:03:17 and 2:16:42.

When I was watching the Berlin Marathon, I found most of the runners were wearing Adidas shoes. It’s not a surprise because Germany is the home country of Adidas, and Adidas, as always, will sponsor lots of the world’s top runners in the Berlin Marathon. There were only two runners wearing Nike shoes in the men’s lead pack, Milkesa Mengesha and Haymanot Alew, in the first half of the marathon. But they still ended up with the first and third places, respectively.

In this blog post, I will list the shoes worn by the winners of the 2024 Berlin Marathon.

Conclusions

Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2, released in 2021, even though being a little bit old, is still one of the most competitive marathon racing shoes. It’s amazing that Milkesa Mengesha could still wear it to beat Cyprian Kimurgor Kotut and Haymanot Alew, who were wearing the flagship marathon racing shoes from Adidas and Nike, respectively, in the 2024 Berlin Marathon.
