Chicago Marathon 2024 Winner Running Shoes

Introduction

The 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon was concluded on October 13th, 2024. The 27-year-old Kenyan male runner John Korir and the 28-year-old Kenyan female runner Ruth Chepngetich were crowned the champions of men’s and women’s marathons, respectively, with a time of 2:02:43 and 2:09:56.

The most impressive thing about the 2024 Chicago Marathon was of course the women’s marathon world record set by Ruth Chepngetich. It was the first time in history that a woman could run a marathon under 2 hours and 10 minutes which was considered as if a man could run a marathon under 2 hours. One of the male pacers was running with Ruth Chepngetich through out the entire marathon, which was rare, and he has done a very good job to help Ruth Chepngetich to break the world record.

The second most impressive thing about the 2024 Chicago Marathon was John Korir was able to run a marathon with negative splitting. He completed the first half of the marathon in 1:02:19 and the second half of the marathon in 1:00:25. It should be noted last year Kelvin Kiptum set the world record in the 2023 Chicago Marathon with negative splitting as well. He completed the first half of the marathon in 1:00:48 and the second half of the marathon in 0:59:47.

Conclusions

Kenya runners currently are holding both men’s and women’s marathon world records. The world record holders, Kelvin Kiptum and Ruth Chepngetich, both wore Nike Alphafly 3 shoes to break the world records in the 2023 and 2024 Chicago Marathon, respectively.

However, we could see that Nike does not always dominate every single marathon. Other less famous brands, such as Asics and On, also have their own competitive marathon racing shoes that could help the runners to achieve their best performances, or even win the marathon.
