The Lambretta Scooter In The Movie "The Pope's Exorcist"

Introduction

In the 2023 supernatural horror movie “The Pope’s Exorcist”, it’s very interesting to see that Father Gabriele Amorth played by Russell Crowe rides an Italian Lambretta scooter and wears Ferrari-red socks, even though this might be completely fictional.

Although I am too young to own a Lambretta scooter, I know a little bit about it because I used to see this old-school scooter in UK and some other movies. In this blog post, I would like to share my little findings of the Lambretta scooter that Father Gabriele Amorth rides in the movie.

This is the Lambretta scooter that Father Gabriele Amorth rides in the movie. Father Gabriele Amorth wears Ferrari-red socks and the Lambretta scooter also has a Ferrari stick on it. In addition to the Ferrari stick, there is also a beer cup stick on the scooter.

It turns out that the Lambretta scooter in the movie is a Lambretta Serveta Li 150 Special which might be produced between 1963 and 1965. Comparing to the scooter in the movie, the “Special” characters were removed.

The Spain-Produced Lambretta Serveta

In fact, the Lambretta Serveta was actually not produced in Italy, but Spain, which is probably to fit where the fictional Spain’s Abbey of San Sebastian is in the movie.

The non-Serveta Lambretta Li 150 Special produced in Italy, although looks almost the same as the Lambretta Serveta Li 150 Special, used a different logo.

The Ferrari stick was used probably to indicate that Father Gabriele Amorth was born Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, where Ferrari was founded.

The beer cup stick was actually an Irish Guinness embossed metal refrigerator magnet which is exclusive to Ireland.

This is probably to imply that the fictional Spain’s Abbey of San Sebastian in the movie was actually the Ireland’s Dromore Castle (Ruin).

Lambretta Scooter In 2020s

The Lambretta scooter in 2020s does not look dramatically different from the old classic ones.
