Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge - Ravenswood

Introduction

On October 19th, 2025, I visited the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge - Ravenswood at Menlo Park, California, for wildlife photography. Most of the bird species I photographed were Snowy Egrets, Great Egret, and Great Blue Herons. I also photographed a Western Meadowlark for the first time, although the I could not get close enough to capture good details. It was also very interesting to see how the Snowy Egrets catch lugworms by probing the mudflats with their beaks and some Snowy Egrets would try to wrest the lugworms from others.
