Introduction

On August 8th, 2026, I visited the Baylands Nature Preserve in Palo Alto, California, for photography. This is a great place for bird photography, especially for capturing various species of birds in their natural habitat, including American White Pelican, Snowy Egret, Great Egret, Black Phoebe, Northern Mockingbird, American Avocets, American Coot, Pied-Billed Grebe, Song Sparrow, Short-Billed Dowitchers, Marbled Godwit, Belted Kingfisher, California Towhee, House Finch, Anna’s Hummingbird, Barn Swallow, Long-Billed Curlew, etc. There were a few interesting scenes I observed, such as an Anna’s Hummingbird eating mosquitoes, and a Great Egret catching two small fishes at one shot.
