Devil's Slide Trail
Introduction
On August 29th, 2026, I visited Devil’s Slide Trail at Pacifica, California, for hiking and photography. Even though there are lots of seabirds nesting on the cliffs, it was not quite possible to get close enough photographs of them, even with a lens of 400mm or 600mm focal length. In addition to the seabirds, I also encountered a few dolphins swimming near the shore. My original plan was actually not to go to Devil’s Slide Trail, so I brought a 50-400mm lens with me. A more suitable lens for this location would be a Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II or a Tamron 28-300mm F/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD lens.
