Pacific Commons Linear Park
Introduction
On October 24th, 2026, I visited Pacific Commons Linear Park to test wildlife photography using the Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS lens and a Sony FE 2x Teleconverter combination. Unlike the Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS + Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter combination, which did not degrade image quality too significantly, the 2x Teleconverter significantly reduces image quality and light transmission and also makes the camera setup much more heavier to operate. I found the image quality of the photographs taken today mostly not acceptable. I will not use the Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS lens and a Sony FE 2x Teleconverter combination in the future.
In this trip, I did not encounter too many exciting wildlife, except a Belted Kingfisher. The Belted Kingfisher has very unique birdcall and I was able to get a close shot of it. The last time I photographed a Belted Kingfisher was a year ago at Coyote Creek Parkway and it was much less close.
