Sam McDonald Park

Introduction

On September 5th, 2026, I went to Sam McDonald Park at Loma Mar, California, for hiking and photography. In the southern part of the park, I was exposed to sunlight most of the time and encountered horse riders from Jack Brook Horse Camp from time to time. In the northern part of the park, I was immersed in the forest but did not encounter too much wildlife. There are a few species of birds living in the park, such as Lesser Goldfinch, Chestnut-Backed Chickadee, and California Scrub-Jay. But getting close photograph shots of them was difficult.
